Over at identity theory, Rob Ryan writes about the complications that ensue when the soundtrack of one's formative years is transformed into a vehicle for hucksterism.
This is particularly timely, as I am in the midst of a lengthy rage blackout over Dr. Pepper's use of the Muppets' classic "Mahna Mahna." At first, my pinko liberal knickers were in a twist over the capitalist exploitation of Fozzie and the gang. Cooler heads prevailed, and now I'm busily pondering why the hell anyone might think "Mahna Mahna" might encourage Dr. Pepper consumption.
The only up-side is that this might enrage Henson to the point where he not only rolls over in, but actually stands up and marches on out of, his grave.
