Oh, my God. When I said that manga was taking over the world, I was referring only to the ubiquity of manga culture, with its newsprinty, backward-flipping books and its raving, squeaky tweeny fans and its big-eyed kiddie porn characters, inhabiting a world where skirts hitting below the upper thigh are outlawed as treasonous. I did not mean to imply that manga, itself, was making a bid for Earthly domination through the traditional inter-species apocalyptic battle.
But now scientists have discovered this "furry lobster" in the waters near Easter Island. And it looks just like something straight out of manga. And it makes me wonder.
In a few days, we're going to be hearing about how this "amazing crustacean" is also capable of shooting laser beams from its defunct eye sockets, aren't we?
